So (unlike everyone at the Yorozuya, Otae, Kyuubei, Sa-chan, and the Yoshiwara girls who all clearly acknowledge Kintoki in the previous scenes), Zura does not acknowledge Kintoki here. So, Zura does not refer to Kintoki in this scene, he refers to the host of The Costume Grand Prix.

The show is hosted by Kinichi Hagimoto, who is most commonly referred in Japan as. The Costume Grand Prix mentioned in ElizabethвЂ™s sign is actually the English term for and refers to Kasou Taishou, a semi-annual show on NTV in which various amateur groups (or solo artists) perform short skits, which are rated by a panel of judges (more info here). So I did some small 'researchвЂ™ and found out that this scene indeed contains some Japanese culture reference! So, because (I think almost all of you agree that) H*rribl*Subs is not as good as previous Gintama fansubbers (like R*mbel for example), I was wondering if probably there is some Japanese culture reference in that scene that is not explained by H*rribl*Subs. I think Zura is not referring to Kintoki here. This is when I start to think that something is not quite right. So why does Zura suddenly call him вЂњKin-chanвЂќ? So, if he thinks that Kintoki is the вЂGintokiвЂ™ he knew, shouldnвЂ™t he call him вЂњKintokiвЂќ? I mean, everyone thinks that Kintoki is the вЂGintokiвЂ™ they knew before, right? Shinpachi and Sa-chan call him Kin-san, Kagura calls him Kin-chan, and Tsukuyo calls him Kintoki, all exactly like how they use to call Gintoki in the past.

Why does Zura refer to him as вЂњKin-chanвЂќ? He calls Gintoki вЂњGintokiвЂќ all the time. The first time I watched this, I was like: Wait. IвЂ™m sure everyone (at least at first) would think that Zura is referring to Kintoki when he says вЂњKin-chanвЂќ, right? But hold on. And this is when things start to get reeeeeeeaaaaaaally interesting. They donвЂ™t even realize that they just run over someone because Seita then says that this place is almost exactly like Yoshiwara because there are clumps of hairs everywhere, indicating that they think they merely just run over a clump of hair, not a human being, lol.ДЄnd then immediately after, there is a scene where Zura and Elizabeth trample Gintoki. Tsukuyo clearly acknowledges Kintoki in her speech here. Tsukuyo, Hinowa, and Seita run Gintoki over with HinowaвЂ™s wheelchair. Sa-chan (without her glasses on) mistakes Gintoki for Kintoki, and then kicks him in the head when she realizes that he is not her Kin-san. They think that heвЂ™s just a creepy perm-head dude and even think that they should consult Kintoki about this. Otae and Kyuubei donвЂ™t recognize Gintoki at all. Shinpachi, Kagura, Otose-san, and Catherine practically dote on Kintoki and donвЂ™t recognize Gintoki at all. Pretty much everyone on the show has at least one scene which shows how they think Kintoki is the вЂGintokiвЂ™ they knew, and that they donвЂ™t recognize the real Gintoki. Interaction between Zura and Gintoki which can indicate that Zura does not recognize who Gintoki is. Interaction between Zura and Kintoki which can indicate that Zura acknowledges Kintoki as the real вЂGintokiвЂ™.Дў. :)ДЇirst of all, if you watch each episode in Kintama Arc carefully, you will find that there is NOT a single scene of:ДЎ.
